Tech & Innovation Ecosystem with Ebbon Group
B4 was delighted to host a recent Tech & Innovation Ecosystem roundtable with Craig Gibbin and Rob Pilkington, Joint CEOs of Ebbon Group. The session brought together 12 leaders to gain a deeper insight into how this pioneering Oxfordshire business is shaping the future of the global automotive industry.
Founded in 2000 as Ebbon-Dacs, Ebbon Group has grown into a digital platforms company with a clear mission: to solve the problems faced by the global automotive community and to drive towards an efficient, sustainable, and safer future. Over the past two decades, the business has developed an unrivalled history of delivering software products that connect and automate the automotive community, building market-leading applications used across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
During the discussion, Craig and Rob outlined the four key elements of the group:
- Ebbon Automotive: A portfolio of platforms supporting the automotive community with vehicle management and optimisation solutions.
- Ebbon Intelligence: Harnessing robotics, AI and automation to push the boundaries of innovation in the automotive sector and beyond.
- DriverCheck: A trusted service managing licence checks for over 1,200 clients across the private and public sectors.
- Licence Check: Creator of DAVIS, the UK’s number one driver risk management platform, providing an efficient, automated approach to compliance.
Attendees heard how these distinct centres of excellence were created following the acquisitions of Licence Check and DriverCheck, ensuring that each area could focus on specialised challenges while benefitting from shared values and vision across the group. This structure enables Ebbon to deliver scalable growth, enhanced customer service, and targeted innovation.
The roundtable also explored the wider implications of Ebbon’s work for the future of mobility. From fleet optimisation and compliance to AI-driven insights and sustainability goals, Craig and Rob emphasised how digital platforms can address systemic challenges while creating opportunities for collaboration across industries. Both leaders also shared personal reflections on their own journeys with Ebbon, highlighting the importance of resilience, long-term thinking, and a culture of shared values.
The session reinforced Ebbon Group’s position as a critical player in Oxfordshire’s innovation ecosystem, showcasing how local businesses can achieve global impact.
