Blake Morgan Teams in the Thames Valley Celebrate Success in the Legal Directories
Blake Morgan’s teams and leading individuals in the Thames Valley have been recognised for the strength and depth of their expertise in the 2020 edition of the prestigious Legal 500 directory and the Chambers & Partners 2020 UK rankings.
Both directories review and recognise the strengths of law firms and their lawyers across the UK and recommends them based on feedback from clients and peers.
In this year’s Legal 500, Blake Morgan has received Tier 1 rankings in five practice areas across the firm’s Oxford and Reading offices, including Corporate and Commercial, Dispute resolution – Commercial Litigation, Employment, Private Client and Commercial Property. A further 17 practice areas were awarded a Tier 1 ranking across the South East region.
The directory also lists nine Blake Morgan lawyers across the Thames Valley as ‘leading individuals’ – an accolade that recognises those who have demonstrated sector leadership and expertise. As well as being recognised as a ‘leading individual’, Banking & Finance Partner Guy Constant has been inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’, which is awarded to lawyers who are at the pinnacle of the profession and demonstrate continued excellence.
Among the list of leading individuals is partner Chris Potts, who leads Blake Morgan’s Thames Valley Commercial Litigation team, who is described as “an excellent and tenacious lawyer.” Family Law partner, Christine Plews, is also recognised, being described as “highly experienced and comes across as authoritative, reassuring, calm and in control.”
Blake Morgan also performed strongly in the Chambers and Partners 2020 UK guide. Across the Thames Valley, eight practice areas were ranked Band 1 and 2 for quality and service, including the firm’s Employment, Planning, Social Housing, Banking & Finance and Litigation. The region boasts two ‘associates to watch’ – awarded to lawyers in recognition of their work in the background of major deals.
Five lawyers from across the Thames Valley were also listed as top-tier professionals, including Head of Planning Guthrie McGruer and Head of Construction Richard Wade. William Downing, Head of Employment Law in the Thames Valley, was also listed in Band 1 while Zoe Wright and Christine Plews were also recognised, with the latter described by a client as “a real class act”.
Bruce Potter, Chairman at Blake Morgan, said: “This year’s results serve to confirm that our Thames Valley teams are leaders in the region and continue to perform strongly in the legal directories. Our depth of expertise and experience has once again been recognised in these listings as we continue to excel across a diverse range of practice areas.”
Across the UK, Blake Morgan saw 37 practice areas highlighted in the Tier 1 rankings in this year’s Legal 500 and 15 practice areas listed as Band 1 in the 2020 Chambers UK rankings.
