About

About the Guesthouse

Situated in the attractive area of Headington, Oxford, is the family run Conifers Guesthouse. Built in the late 70s, the Conifers site has had significant upgrades, including newly added extensions and self-catered accommodation. Since 2004 under the ownership of Harjeet & Tarlok Bola, the guesthouse has been completely revitalised – and is now recognised by its AA 4* Guest Accommodation rating.

Ideally situated for visitors to the historic city of Oxford, the Guesthouse has public transport access to the University of Oxford and is conveniently located near Oxford Brookes University. The surrounding area benefits from extensive green spaces, including Shotover park and the South Park, with magnificent views over the city spires.

For students and medical professionals, the Guesthouse is a stone’s throw away from the Nuffield, the Churchill hospital and teaching campus, and a short bus ride from the John Radcliffe Hospital. Travelling to or from London? The Oxford Tube bus route goes through Headington, in addition to coach links serving Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted airports – only a 10-minute walk from the Conifers.

Providing a range of rooms and living spaces, the Conifers Guesthouse can accommodate families, couples, or single travellers, all with ensuite facilities and modern amenities. If you’re travelling by car, there is on site parking with additional spaces in nearby locations.

Every booking includes an extensive breakfast, inclusive of your room cost. Enjoy a range of pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and, of course, in addition we offer some traditional cooked meat and vegetarian options. Guests often stay to visit nearby family and friends, for work, and events in the city. Whatever the reason for your stay, the Conifers Guesthouse has ample recreation space; a long flower bordered lawn, a large terrace to enjoy the evening sun, and a natural wooded area at the back.

About the Family

The driving force of the family business is Harjeet Bola, who has taken the Conifers site and transformed it into a truly enjoyable space. After several years in the civil service, Harjeet wanted a new challenge and to dedicate her time carving out her own business opportunity. After acquiring the Conifers in 2004, and from the help of family friends, she developed the business into the successful venture it is today.

Harjeet’s husband, Tarlok Bola, has swapped his scientific career in pharmaceuticals to support the business and can often be found in the Guesthouse breakfast kitchen. Alongside Tarlok are regular duty managers Peter Lund, and the eldest daughter Puneet, who greet guests and take bookings. Both Puneet and Simran, their youngest son, provide marketing, events, and comms support. Backed by her wider family, and an amazing team of house keeping staff, the business is thriving.

Harjeet has been an active member of the B4 business networking group, is passionate about meeting like minded independent business owners, and has taken real inspiration from the Rosser family:

“It is a real pleasure to be able to interact with professionals and business owners around Oxfordshire, and always opportunities to meet others in industries such as banking, law, and IT solutions. We as a family, and as business owners, we have had the opportunity to meet and network in some fabulous locations in and around Oxford, such as the Oxford University colleges and Rhodes House. Besides the obvious benefits of the B4 networking group, I’ve also found a great social circle, had some much-needed fun, and every event is delivered in a relaxed atmosphere”.
