Comment: Davos Virtual Forum – Building Future Preparedness
Sridhar Iyengar, MD for Zoho Europe comments on the Davos Virtual Forum – Building Future Preparedness which took place on 21st January 2021.
“From a business perspective, preparing for the future means preparing for the unknown with aspects such as policy changes and trends which will inevitably impact our way of working. Covid-19 was and is the obvious catalyst that will require businesses to remain adaptable and flexible for the foreseeable future, but decision-makers must also be ready for new technologies, regulations and social policies that will emerge over the next few years.
“If the pandemic has taught businesses anything, it’s that we must be equipped to offer tailored, round-the-clock, and efficient services that are resilient to the constantly changing economy and new industry trends that are regularly subject to volatile change. Business leaders can not afford to fall into the trap of assuming that because they’ve done it before they can do it again, and it’s imperative that they equip themselves with the right strategy, tools, tech and know-how, to thrive and shift successfully amidst an unpredictable economy and heightened industry competition.
“Reassessing digital infrastructure is one part of remaining flexible. Businesses will do well to implement state-of-the-art cloud enabled SaaS applications that complement and serve their existing infrastructure, as opposed to just confusing it. ‘Trust’ is rising as a key customer demand that will dictate the public perception of private businesses. Therefore, businesses should consider implementing new technology, bolstering security defences and amending data usage policies so that they can be sure to safeguard customer data and uphold a positive brand image.”
