Back To The Bus
Phil Southall is the hugely experienced Managing Director of Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and City Sightseeing Oxford.
In this video, Phil explains the challenges he has faced since March 2020, coping with significantly reduced levels of custom and the obstacles he now has to overcome with reduced government funding and persuading lapsed customers that it’s safe to get back on the buses.
There are significant benefits of using the bus. It’s been proven that people using the bus get more exercise and fresh air, it’s clearly better for the environment than using a car and when you consider costs of parking, petrol, wear and tear, the bus is always going to be the most economical option.
If you’re a business looking to partner with Phil and Oxford Bus Company as Oxford Brookes, Oxford University and many more have done, Phil would be pleased to hear from you as per his contact details below.
Phil also holds a number of other positions as follows:
Chairman, Confederation of Passenger Transport UK
Oxfordshire President, Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce
Board Member, Transport Knowledge Hub
Non-Executive Director, Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP)
Member of Strategic Transport Forum

The Better Business Ecosystem is raising awareness and showcasing the wide variety of ways businesses can have a more positive impact on society, communities and the environment, by embedding great business practices across their companies.
Why joining a community of business leaders can enhance your reputation and credibility
I read a LinkedIn post recently that reassured business owners that if they’d managed to keep their businesses going during recession, Brexit, COVID and the cost-of-living crisis that they deserved a huge pat on the back and shouldn’t ‘beat themselves up’. Easier said than done when costs are rising and doing business seems to get harder rather than easier, but the sentiment was well-placed.
