Shropshire Estate Agent boost for Severn Hospice
A £1500 cheque donation from county estate agent, Samuel Wood has helped boost funds for Shropshire charity Severn Hospice.
Russell Griffin, co-director at Samuel Wood has first-hand experience of the Hospice, as his own father received palliative care from the charity.
He said it was this experience and meeting head of fundraising Elodie Home through business membership organisation, B4 Shropshire, and hearing Elodie speak about the charity and its work, which motivated him to develop a business relationship.
“I attended a recent B4 Shropshire lunch event some months ago and, and heard a speech about the charity, which is B4 Shropshire’s chosen charity.
“It really resonated with me and after speaking to my business partner Andrew Cadwallader we decided to donate some funds set aside for charity to the Severn Hospice to support its essential work.
“It’s such a worthwhile charity and it looked after my own father 15 years ago. The wonderful people made the last days of his life so comfortable. It’s all about collaboration and we are very happy to be able support the hospice.”
Commenting on the donation, Louise Withers, sales negotiator at Samuel Wood in Shrewsbury, said: “We are thrilled to support such a worthy local charity which provides free care for individuals and families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales when patient cure is no longer possible.
“Having visited the Shrewsbury site, we have been inspired by the exceptional levels of care demonstrated by the staff who work there. At a time of greatest need, the unswerving dedication, resilience, and sensitivity delivered by Severn Hospice is truly second to none.”
Elodie Home, said: “I have got to know Russell quite well over the last few months and we are grateful to Samuel Wood for supporting us. As a charity, we really value every single donation we receive and always make sure it does its best for the people we care for. Each year we care for 3,000 families, all for free, and have to raise £2 for every £3 we spend in order to provide it. It’s only thanks to our generous supporters that we are able to do this, and we are so grateful for all they do.”
