What: Community Businesses & Co-ops: Panel Conversation & Social Meet Up
Date: Thursday 13th October from 6 – 8 pm
Where: The White House by Tap Social, 38 Abingdon Road
Co-operative Futures, CAG Oxfordshire and OSEP, the organisation delivering OxLEP’s eScalate programme, are excited to host an event to celebrate community businesses and co-ops in Oxfordshire. The event will invite existing community businesses to share honest reflections on their experiences. The event will hear from 3 community-business leaders in conversation as well as give attendees the opportunity to share where they are stuck with their business, gain advice and offers from others, and celebrate co-ops as a force for good.
Co-operative Futures will also be launching their new peer-mentoring programme. New co-operative and community businesses can access two days of funded peer-support from existing co-operative businesses – a great opportunity to get support and gain knowledge in these tough economic times.
eScalate programme manager, Ashley Cavers said;
“Increasingly, businesses are looking to achieve social and environmental impact as part of their purpose, and as a result are looking at alternative structures. Co-ops offer this alternative and have long been a force for positive change. We’re excited to be hosting this event showcasing and celebrating some of the inspiring work being done by co-ops in Oxfordshire.”
Co-operative Development Worker, Alice Hemming remarked;
“Now more than ever, its really important for people working in co-ops and community-led businesses to find time to come together to celebrate, socialise and learn from each other. We are really excited to be providing a space to re-connect after the pandemic and build a stronger movement.”
CAG Oxfordshire Director, Katherine Chesson commented;
“As a member-owned coop, CAG Oxfordshire supports a network of community groups and social enterprises across the county, including through the Owned by Oxford initiative. We are excited to partner with eScalate and Coop Futures to encourage and highlight the work of democratically-led and inspired organisations.”
