Supporting the future generation of accountants

Accountancy and business advisors Whitley Stimpson is continuing its investment in young talent and has welcomed ten new starters to join its leading accountancy team.

The company which has offices in Banbury, Bicester, High Wycombe and Witney officially returned to the workplace on 1st September following an immensely challenging period working remotely.

Jonathan Walton, Director at Whitley Stimpson explains: “We are delighted to welcome such a large number of new starters to the company and are so proud of what we’ve achieved despite all the extra challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Across all offices the Whitley Stimpson teams adapted to the ‘new normal’ quickly, which involved greater client support with many businesses struggling to navigate finances. It also required supporting the needs of our younger trainees and has highlighted the talent, commitment, and incredible resilience of our team in supporting these rising stars!

“We recognise that a firm can only be as good as its staff and so investing in the future growth of our people is critical to the success of our company. This means that training is at the heart of everything we do at Whitley Stimpson and we have developed a really unique learning environment where we inspire new generations of accountants while supporting our clients.”

While many other professional practice firms continue to work remotely, Whitley Stimpson is now fully back up and running in their Covid secure offices. The main driver for going back to the office was to ensure that the trainees, school leavers, graduates and the company new starters receive the best training support at the start of their career.

Tracy Williams HR Manager at Whitley Stimpson says: “Our existing trainees have shown agility in adapting their learning delivery methods so that they didn’t fall behind with learning programs thanks to responsive and innovative changes made and the online and practical support available. The result of this is that learners were in a strong position to complete their ACCA and ICAEW exams in August and September. However, mentoring and support can only be effectively provided in an office environment, so we are delighted to welcome the successful recruits onto the first steps of their trainee or apprenticeship journey.”

New starters to the firm include trainees, finance and payroll staff and a business administration apprentice: James Field, Olivia Davies, Rebecca England, Liberty Griffiths, Muhammad Ishfaq, Saskya Pickering, Dominic Shaffner, Seren Thomas, Mihaela Trofinica and Anne Whittaker.

Whitley Stimpson’s reputation for excellence in training has been highlighted further with excellent exam results. James Blondel and William Fowler have passed their ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales) professional stage exams, and Chrystal Terry has passed her ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) exams. Megan Collison, Maddi Cooper, and Molly Jackson have completed the ICSA (The Chartered Governance Institute) Level Four Foundation Programme, Level Three Payroll Administrator apprenticeship, and CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) Level Four Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing respectively.

The company, which has been providing financial advice to businesses and individuals for over 89 years, is consistently ranked within the top 100 practices in the country and is recognised as one of the top ten accountancy employers in the UK.
