Leading law firm Freeths has appointed Katherine Burge as its new Head of Agricultural Property in Oxford.
Katherine succeeds Iain Davis, who is retiring after a 30-year career, having led Freeths’ Oxford agricultural team for the past 23 years.
Since joining Freeths in 2017, Katherine has played a key role in expanding the firm’s agricultural and rural property offering, advising landowners, farmers and rural businesses on complex property transactions, as well as estate management and development matters.
Her appointment reflects Freeths’ continued commitment to growth in the agricultural sector and to delivering exceptional legal services to its rural client base in the region.
During his tenure, Iain was instrumental in building Freeths’ reputation in agriculture, leading on high-value and strategically important land transactions, and advising clients on long-term estate and succession planning.
Commenting on Katherine’s appointment, Iain Davis said: “Katherine has an excellent understanding of the agricultural sector and a highly collaborative approach to working with both clients and colleagues. I am confident she will continue to uphold the high standards the team is known for and will lead the practice successfully into its next phase.”
Katherine added: “I am delighted to be taking on this role at such a pivotal time for the agricultural property team and the firm more widely. We have a strong and well-established practice, and I am committed to continuing to support our clients through the evolving challenges and opportunities facing the rural and agricultural sector.
“I would like to thank Iain for his leadership and the significant contribution he has made to the team and to the firm. Together with Masood Ahmed and the wider team, we will continue to develop a business that meets the needs of our client base and supports the firm’s ambitions.”
