Directors praised for long service
Two directors of Whitley Stimpson, one of the largest independent accountancy practice and business advisers in the area, stood out from the crowd at this years’ annual staff conference after serving for a total of 30 years at the firm.
Val Buzzard, this year’s winner of the businesswoman of the year title at the Banbury Women in Business Awards, celebrated 20 years as a director of Whitley Stimpson, and tax expert and fellow director Owen Kyffin were congratulated for reaching 10 years’ service as a director.
Whitley Stimpson managing director Jonathan Walton, said: “Both of these directors are a shining example to others and experts in their fields.”
Owen Kyffin, who moved to Whitley Stimson from a leading international firm, said: “I have never made a better decision. We have a great team, many of whom trained with the firm and have stuck with us ever since – so we must be doing something right.
“I place a great deal of value on living and working in my home town. It means I can become familiar with my clients, many of whom have become firm friends over the years.”
Commenting on her anniversary Val Buzzard, who was the first woman director at the company, said: “It certainly doesn’t feel like 20 years but then time does really fly when you’re having fun. I have always enjoyed the diversity of clients we support and have had strong working relationships with both my clients and colleagues. There have been many highlights over the years including this year’s Banbury Women in Business win – the trophy has pride of place in reception.”
Whitley Stimpson, which has offices in Banbury, Bicester, High Wycombe and Witney has a policy of recruiting locally and places a high value on training and developing staff. It is among the top 100 companies in the country and is involved in community projects stretching from the arts to sport.
Jonathan Walton added: “On behalf of Whitley Stimpson I would like to thank Owen and Val for their dedication to the business, hard work and attitude towards making sure our clients receive the best possible service.
“We believe strongly that our investment in staff and involvement in the communities we serve leads to better service to companies and individuals, in general and specialised areas.”
