BHO were established in September 2018 by Emily Boardman, Ruth Hawkins and Irena Osborne.
Our matrimonial team are members of Resolution, and subscribe to a code of practice that promotes a constructive approach to cases and considers the needs of the whole family. We aim to assist our clients to focus on what is important in the long term.
We offer competitive private rates, fixed fees where appropriate and legal aid for eligible cases and clients.
Our matrimonial lawyers, are Helen Bishop, Karen Newman and Amanda Stopps, and partner Ruth Hawkins. Ruth is also our mediator, and recently qualified as a child inclusive mediator which means she is qualified to undertake direct mediation work with children. Karen is also a Collaborative lawyer, and is about to train as a family mediator. Our private law team are specialists in all matrimonial matters, including divorce and financial matters, disputes relating to children, domestic abuse, and other areas including pre-nuptial agreements.
We also have a specialist childcare team, with expertise in cases involving social services, adoption, kinship care, surrogacy and child abduction & relocation cases.
We recognise that many of our clients are experiencing stress, and therapeutic help can ensure that our clients are better equipped to deal with, and focus on their family matters whilst accessing that support from our linked therapists.

It’s all so very Greek! Mamma Mia hits Oxford’s New Theatre.
My first experience of Mamma Mia was watching the first film on a ferry back from France. I remember being enthralled by the energy of the film and the music.
