Be a Go-Green Hero with these tips
Going green around the workplace, protecting the planet, recycling, developing a (CSR) corporate social responsibility strategy – the message is finally been acted on, and businesses are making conscious decisions to make changes. Some of these take time, including fundamental policy alterations, but there are many small changes that we can all start doing, today, to make a big difference in the workplace.
1. Lights – switch them off!
Reduce the length of time that lights are left on unnecessarily. Where lights are used – switch to LED bulbs to reduce the energy used.
2. Recycling bins
Encourage everyone to recycle by adding plenty of bins with signage use. You can recycle your used printer and toner cartridges for free with A&J.
3. Printing
Set your printers to default double-sided printing. You can reuse unwanted single-sided printed sheets for notes.
4. Appliances – turn them off! Save energy
Printer, laminator, and any kitchen appliances including lights when they’re not being used. Invest in energy-saving devices with sleep modes.
5. Introduce sustainable stationery
We have an ever-expanding range of greener stationery items and eco products.
6. Add greenery to the workplace
Greening up the office creates a more peaceful and inviting environment. Carbon from the plants also helps to create cleaner air too.
7. Update the washroom
Buy eco-paper towels, eco-hand wash & eco-toilet roll dispensers. Add paper recycling bins to your washrooms for paper towels.
8. Recycle the difficult stuff
Products like batteries and mobile phones aren’t always easy to recycle, but there are places that do. Seek these places out and your company will be a true Go Green Hero.
9. Buy eco-workplace furniture
Items such as desks, divider screens and seating are available.
10. Make recycling fun
It doesn’t need to be a burden for employees, many businesses choose to add fun to the office culture with competitions for workers that participate.
