University of Oxford Vice Chancellor’s Christmas Drinks: A Celebration of Community, Collaboration and Oxfordshire’s Strength

Representing the B4 Community at this event was both a privilege and a reminder of why Oxfordshire continues to be such an extraordinary place to work, lead and collaborate. As I spoke with so many B4 Members in attendance — leaders from across business, academia, research, culture and civic life — two things stood out clearly:

1. Oxfordshire is powered by collaboration.

Our county is home to a remarkable concentration of talented, generous and forward-thinking people. Everywhere you turn, there are individuals and organisations committed to sharing ideas, solving problems and building something greater than themselves. Events like this bring that energy into sharp focus — a network of people who genuinely want the region to thrive.

2. B4’s role in connecting the community is recognised and valued.

It was humbling to hear how B4’s mission resonates with the University leadership and others across Oxfordshire. Our aim has always been simple: to help good people and good organisations find each other, work together, and strengthen the communities they serve. To have that contribution acknowledged in such a setting means a great deal — and motivates us to continue raising the bar.

As we move into an exciting year ahead — B4’s 20th anniversary and the Oxfordshire Business Summit 2026 among the highlights — this event served as a powerful reminder of what makes Oxfordshire unique: a shared belief in collaboration, purpose, and collective progress.
