Oxford Brookes sets out plans to enhance STEM and creative industries activity
The University provides an update on proposals for its Headington Hill site which will boost collaborative learning, research and partnership working across technology, engineering and the arts.
Oxford Brookes is engaging with community members on proposals to develop its Headington Hill site for the benefit of students, research, industry and the wider region.
The University has set out plans for a workshop building to enhance STEM and creative industries activity.
The new workshop, which would be based next to the existing Richard Hamilton building, will promote collaborative learning, research and partnership working for the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment.
This is in addition to a new teaching building proposed for the Headington Hill site, for which an amendment to the previously granted planning permission was submitted in December 2021.
Oxford Brookes currently expects to submit a planning application for this separate, smaller workshop building by the end of February.
Brendan Casey, Registrar and Chief Operating Officer of Oxford Brookes University, said: “We are seeking to create spaces that not only allow our students, staff and researchers to flourish, but boost local partnerships and help meet the needs of industry.
“Our Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment already has an international reputation for excellence and innovation. The proposed development will help to ensure that Oxford Brookes and its partners play an increasingly crucial role in STEM and creative industries activity. I would encourage the local community to take a look at our plans and attend the webinar taking place to learn more about the new workshop building.”
