A new Group Finance Director has been appointed by environmental and waste services specialists The M&M Group to oversee its strategic direction aligned to business growth plans.
Tim Smith joins with more than 10 years’ experience in finance having held senior roles in the technology, rural and tertiary sectors for firms operating nationally.
He is based at the group’s Cassington headquarters near Witney, Oxfordshire, and has joined the company’s Board of Directors as part of his role with immediate effect.
Tim’s responsibility will be spread across The M&M Group’s three entities, which include M&M Waste Solutions, Maylarch Environmental Ltd and M&M Zero.
Together, they specialise in waste collection and recycling, asbestos removal, demolition and land remediation. This year, the group achieved record recycling rates with more than 97 per cent of materials – equating to 141,679 tonnes – collected from its skips and demolition sites diverted from landfill and sent onward for recycling.
Tim said: “The M&M Group has been committed to delivering safe and environmentally sustainable solutions across Oxfordshire and the south for more than 50 years.
“I’m really pleased to join the team during a progressive period where the effects of new behaviours into how we manage waste collected from sites our team operates on are having a tangible impact on the environment.
“It’s widely assumed waste that is thrown into skips, or removed from demolition sites, is destined for landfill – the reality could not be different.
“Our outstanding track record for recycling discarded materials is a key reason behind our growth, and is why I’m thrilled to be onboard.”
The M&M Group has also appointed Charlotte Warner and Sarah Moore to its finance team, becoming Finance Manager and Finance Team Leader respectively.
It follows Louise Spencer-Matthews’ decision to retire from her role as Group Finance Manager, 11 years after she joined the business.
Rob Fluckiger, Managing Director of The M&M Group, added: “Tim has a proven track record in overseeing financial operations and we’re pleased to welcome him, Charlotte and Sarah to their positions in the team.
“We also thank Louise for her outstanding dedication to The M&M Group since 2014, and on behalf of the team we wish her a happy retirement.
“It’s been a breakthrough decade for The M&M Group, with Maylarch joining our operation in 2018 and the launch of M&M Zero following the pandemic.
“Coupled with our record recycling rates, we are well placed to continue supporting communities, businesses and individuals in creating a healthier, safer and more sustainable environment through collaboration and the very latest technology.”
