Blenheim Palace Virtual Media Event
Official launch of two major new exhibitions: ‘Churchill’ and ‘The Stables’, including world premiere unveiling of life-size Churchill waxwork
You are cordially invited to attend a virtual media event, launching two major new exhibitions ‘Churchill’ and ‘The Stables’ at ‘Britain’s Greatest Palace’.
‘Churchill’ uses interactive displays, never-seen-before artefacts and exciting features to chronicle the wartime leader’s lifelong association with Blenheim and ‘The Stables’ tells the fascinating story of the vital role horses have played across the estate over the centuries; from racing thoroughbreds to Churchill’s own pony Rob Roy.
This event will include the first ever virtual tours of the new exhibitions as well as the unveiling of a stunning new waxwork of Sir Winston Churchill, who was born at Blenheim Palace.
Dominic Hare, Blenheim Palace Chief Executive, will outline the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s ambitious plans for the future, and reveal how one of the UK’s most popular visitor attractions is adapting to the post-lockdown world.
Dan Snow, TV Historian, will provide an overview of Churchill’s enduring love and association with Blenheim Palace, which spanned his entire lifetime – including his birth, early childhood, wedding proposal, political career, retirement and final resting place.
Jethro Crabb, Sculptor, will describe how he went about creating the stunningly lifelike recreation of Churchill in wax before its world-premiere unveiling. The great man’s tailor, hatter, optician and shoemaker all provided items of clothing made to his own measurements to add authenticity to the finished figure.
You will also hear from Kate Ballenger, Keeper of Palace and Collections as she takes you on the first official tour of the new exhibitions alongside Deputy Collections Manager Carmen Alvarez.
