Freeths complete record 43 deals in 28 days in run up to budget

The national corporate practice at national law firm, Freeths LLP, completed 43 major transactions, with values from £1m to over £40m, in the run up to the budget.

The deals covered a wide range of sectors in which Freeths specialise, including renewable energy, aviation, logistics, leisure, retail, technology, manufacturing, and engineering.

Notable transactions include advising the award-winning, engineering design consultancy, Hydrock on its acquisition of Kelly Taylor Associates, a mechanical and electrical design consultancy business specialising in the logistics and distribution sector.

The team also advised Hiplok, the company that launched the world’s first around the waist wearable bike lock, on its strategic partnership with the German family-owned uvex sports group.

Francesca Smith, commercial director at Hiplok, said, “I noted on Freeths’ website they are recommended for the “combination of technical capability and human touch” and I feel this summarises my experience of working with them. We always felt like we were in very safe hands.”

Leon Arnold, joint national head of corporate at Freeths Oxford, added, “This volume of deal activity was partly driven by the uncertainty around potential tax increases which may have been in the budget. As a result of this clients wanted their transactions to be completed before Wednesday. The breadth, depth and energy in our corporate team enables us to deal with a high volume of transactions within a short timeframe. The team have worked very hard to deliver for our clients. We would like to thank our clients for placing their trust in Freeths.” Ten of the transactions completed were out of the Oxford office were Leon sits.

Over 70 staff make up the corporate team at Freeths and they are well regarded for their sector expertise and ability to drive deals to completion on time and on budget.
