Leading pizza franchise Papa John’s has teamed up with ruby union aces Leicester Tigers to launch a new pop-up Papa John’s in the Mattioli Woods Welford Road stadium, ready to serve up fresh pizza to fans on match days. Opening in time for the next home game against Gloucester on Christmas Eve, the Papa John’s kiosk will be situated on the upper concourse for those sat in the Yodel stand.
Papa John’s has been a commercial partner with 2021/22 Premiership Champions Leicester Tigers for the past year with the pizza firm’s logo appearing on the team’s kit. At half time, selected supporters are invited to join a giant pizza toss on the pitch, “throwing super-sized fake mushrooms is great fun and much more difficult than it looks!” confirms Mark Davies, Chief Revenue Officer, Leicester Tigers. “Pizza really is the perfect sports food, but we thought it was about time we scored with Papa John’s and presented the real thing to our fans too!”
Davies continues: “Hot, fresh Papa John’s pizza is a treat to share in within the family environment we offer. It will add to the enjoyment of a day out and pizza appeals to every audience. Even some of our players have been known to enjoy a slice or two of Papa John’s pizza after a game!”
Amit Pancholi, UK Director of Business Development at Papa John’s, comments: “We are proud to team-up with Leicester Tigers. The brand partnership has continued to develop and with the addition of the pop-up store we’ve created a winning combination! The new store plus the five existing Papa John’s already operating in Leicester now mean everyone in the region can share our delicious pizza at home or on a day out!”
As well as high street stores, Papa John’s works with existing operators in a ‘non-traditional’ location such as sports stadiums, holiday parks or leisure venues. Franchise incentives are on offer in addition to world-class support, comprehensive training and national marketing. As a franchisor, the Company supplies all the assistance needed to get your successful Papa John’s up and running.
