Those more vulnerable in the winter include the elderly, infants and the chronically ill, with weather-related deaths reaching a staggering 25,000 per year. Whilst we consider these susceptible people, we may not have thought about the many individuals living on the streets of our local towns who are at grave risk.
Two business students from Abingdon & Witney College have launched a #100coats project. The students are aiming to gather at least 100 clean winter coats for the homeless by 13th December, and are also asking donors to attach a luggage tag with a message to the recipient of the clothing.
The local charity OxHop – Oxfordshire’s Homeless Pathways – will be helping to distribute the clothing, and Aston and James are storing any donations.
We want to help spread the word on this admirable campaign and ask for your kind donations to provide essential warmth for those without a home this winter.
We’ve made it simple for you to donate. Simply hunt out your unwanted coats from the depths of your wardrobe and bring them into work. When we drop off your next delivery, we will collect your old coats and store them at our warehouse. We’ll then deliver them to OxHop’s headquarters, O’Hanlon House, for distribution to those most in need. Men’s coats are in greatest demand, but the donation of any coat would be wholly welcomed.
And for every coat we collect, Aston and James will also donate a warm pair of gloves and a woolly hat, making your kindness go even further!
Any help and support you can offer would be most appreciated.
