Youth Challenge Oxfordshire (YoCO) is a local charity supporting vulnerable young people aged 14 -21, helping them to develop resilience and confidence to identify and overcome challenges such as mental health issues, pressures of social media, bullying and peer influence to take unnecessary risks, as well as devise ideas to support and give back to their communities. The young people follow an exciting 18 month programme, designed and delivered by YoCO, and run by youth group leaders at weekly meetings with a professional team in support.
Highlights of the programme include:
- developing leadership and team building skills during a residential weekend away.
- programme can be tailored to enable young people to complete Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.
- organising community events and learning fundraising skills, culminating in a life-changing trip to Kenya to volunteer with The Nasio Trust.
- post programme support continues, with for example help with employment and education applications.
