Pegasus Theatre is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation based in the heart of East Oxford with over 50 years’ experience of creating inspiring, high-quality arts projects engaging children and young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. We reached around 17,500 people last year and continue to make an enduring impact of the vitality of the performing arts locally, regionally and nationally.
We are the only theatre venue in Oxfordshire with the explicit remit to present and create work by, with and for young people. We run a thriving participation programme of drama and dance, present a varied programme of work for young audiences, offer a two-year full-time Acting Diploma for 16-18 year-olds in partnership with education provider boomsatsuma, support emerging artists through our SPARK programme and have a successful schools touring programme taking new plays tackling social issues to schools across Oxfordshire and beyond.
We actively reach out to those who are most excluded and vulnerable, and the depth of our approach means our impact is far-reaching and long-lasting. As well as providing financial and access support for course participants facing barriers to engaging with the arts, we run a range of free projects for young people with challenging life circumstances and our long-standing group for adults with physical and learning disabilities.
