3 Peaks, 3 Teams, 3 Charities The Trifecta

There’s a buzz going around Oxfordshire about business leaders teaming up with charities to pull off a fantastic charity challenge. What you’ve heard is true, and it’s called the Trifecta!

Written by Michael Wellborn, CIS

The Trifecta 3Peaks Challenge is about business leaders leading charity in Oxfordshire. It’s about charity leaders and business leaders participating in a common challenge so they walk away changed from their time together. Charities are always looking for more innovative and “business modelled” solutions to help generate the efficiencies and resources needed to serve their beneficiaries and businesses are looking for ways to spread their success and impact well beyond simply making money. The Trifecta Three Peaks Challenge does just that, creating synergy by meaningfully joining business and charity leaders.

On May 10th 2019, the challenge will take three teams of seven Oxfordshire business leaders and pit them against the National Three Peaks challenge – a punishing 24-hour assault on the largest peak in each of the three regions of the UK: Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike, and Mt Snowdon.

The Trifecta came about by three people deciding they would do the personal challenge for fun and it soon became evident that many other people would like the personal challenge too. With so much interest, the trio decided they could likely raise some money for charity. Now the Trifecta is headed by three Founding Charter Sponsors (below) and three very involved and worthy Oxfordshire charities (below). There are many other very kind and generous sponsors helping to make this charity challenge happen, and honourable mentions should certainly go to Warpline Films in Didcot, and XIST2 in Faringdon, without whom this charity challenge would not have taken off

Founding Charter Sponsors

Oxford PharmaGenesis

Oxford PharmaGenesis is a HealthScience communications consultancy to the healthcare industry, professional societies and patient groups. We have always made Corporate Social Responsibility a key part of the company culture at Oxford PharmaGenesis and we are delighted to be one of the founding partners of the upcoming Trifecta challenge. “This will almost certainly be the most physically demanding 24 hours of my life,” said Dr Richard White (COO), “But it’s going to be worth it to support these three fantastic organizations.”

B4

B4 stands for Building Bridges Between Businesses and is a business networking group with a difference. Richard Rosser (CEO) said, “We understand that business success comes from building long lasting and trusted relationships with your local community and fellow businesses, and what better way to show our support and belief in these values than sponsoring the Trifecta challenge and helping these extremely worthy charities.”

CIS Ltd

CIS Ltd is an IT company with a difference. We know great IT is just as much about people as it is about technology and at CIS we are proud to focus on the people that work for us, as well as the people we work for. With our decades-long place in the Oxfordshire business community, it is important to demonstrate our social commitment. Neill Lawson-Smith (CIO) said, “We are thrilled to be participants and founding members of the Trifecta Challenge and look forward to supporting the event in 2019 and raising awareness for the amazing work these organisations do.”

The Charities

The Oxford Children’s Hospital

Built around the needs of children and their families, with the clinical areas grouped together under one roof, The Oxford Children’s Hospital based at the John Radcliffe in Oxford is bright and happy with indoor and outdoor play areas, sensory rooms and even a school. Eleanor Jones (Head of Fundraising) said, “It is only through the support of the local community we are able to help support a new parents’ accommodation and the amounts raised by the Trifecta challenge will make a real difference helping to provide a safe, comfortable space for families to stay when they need it most”.

Headway Oxfordshire

Headway Oxfordshire has been supporting those affected by brain injury across Oxfordshire for over 30 years. We improve the lives of those affected – including their families and carers – via a range of high-quality support services. Jamie Miller (CEO) said, “As the public purse continues to draw tighter, it is the charities that are meeting the real world human need within our communities. The organisations that came together in a partnership to support the Trifecta Three Peaks Challenge understand this. It’s these forward thinking and committed individuals and organisations that will make our community a fairer and better place to live”.

The Mulberry Bush School

The Mulberry Bush School’s objective is to provide specialist services to meet the needs of emotionally troubled and traumatised children, their families and communities. John Diamond (CEO) said, “I would like my physical journey across the Three Peaks challenge to reflect and celebrate the struggle with adversity these children have overcome. It will no doubt be difficult and arduous, and I hope, like the children, I will be able to find the inner strength to complete the task and along the way use it as a fundraising opportunity to further support our important work.”
